Eternal Optimist

The other day I was asked a question. The question sounded something like "How can you be an environmental optimist when the world is falling apart?"

I am an eternal optimist because I know that everything on earth is transient. Every shape or form is not eternal. Matter cannot be created nor destroyed but it is redistributed creating weird and wonderful things in delicate balance. These thoughts never cease to amaze me.

You know what grinds my gears?

When the dishwasher gets started with barely anything in it. I mean it's a waste of good cleaning space and it's totally wasteful in terms of energy, nevermind water.

You know what else grinds my gears? The fact that I buy free run/grain fed chicken because I am environmentally conscious but what the heck to I do with the styrofoam packaging? It's not even recyclable!

You know else grinds my gears? That Griffin guy..

Coffee Talk with No Coffee

Tonight I got home pissed at the world. More pissed off at Edmonton and the fact that snow removal trucks forgot how to do their job. Pissed at the fact that I didn't know cars were allowed to tailgate bicycles and pissed that my fridge was running on empty.

Then the phone rang, Lisa picked up and disarmed the ticking bomb like a professional. One thing I find difficult living in Edmonton is not having my girlfriends to go out for coffee and ...talk, communicate, complain, share thoughts about relationships, life, love, philosophy, religion. Every once in a while, it feels physically good to put life into perspective.

Tonight, I was lucky to have coffee talk over the phone. Miss you Lis!

Concern of the Day

I try to live life as much as I can everyday.
I travel, I laugh, I dream, I love, I play.
But I wonder...as life seems to be flying by.
Whether all this counts if I don't stop and synthesize?

I need to stop the run and slow the beat of the drum
For a pleasant conversation about this world's situation
With a friend, a co-worker, a new found stranger
Before time flies by and I forget to wonder why.
